The requirements, whether in professional use or in private use, are high. From the products one expects lasting precision and longevity - and beside that a perfect handling. Here you will learn everything about the production of the famous Pfeilring scissors.

The quality of the starting material stands for the quality of the finished scissors. Therefore, Pfeilring processes only high quality steel for the different quality shears. First, the two scissor halves are mechanically punched out of it. These so-called die-cuts can now be cold-formed in stamping molds on toggle presses with more than 200 tons of compressive force and brought into their typical shape.

In further operations, then the threaded hole and the known twist added. The slight rotation of the surfaces is important so that later even hard fingernails can not press top and bottom parts apart.

Now the blanks are hardened. They are heated in the salt bath to over 800 degrees Celsius, to then quench them. This creates a complex structure within the steel, which gives the later scissors hardness, the particular sharpness and long cutting ability. Subsequently, the upper and lower bowls as well as all edges on the wad, stalk and eye are mechanically ground and optically shaped. After the parts have been slid from all sides for several hours, the halves come to the heart of the manufacturing process: electroplating. This is where the final surface coating takes place (nickel, chrome, bronze, partial or total gold plating).

In a further operation, the sharpness is now applied with the so-called "hollow-side deduction" (a special grinding technique) in the hollow side. Only then are the two scissor bins finally screwed together. A lot of skill and experience of the employees is required, because the smooth gear and the cutting ability must be aligned exactly. The particularly good cutting performance of a Pfeilring scissors arises because the upper and lower bowls are shaped so that they remain in contact when closing the scissors on the wate - but only at a single point! Now that the scissors have been polished again on all surfaces, the logo is applied by laser or etching. The embossing shows the quality of the scissors.

Only then will the scissors be finally ground by the employees and checked until they really meet the strict quality criteria. Then the surfaces are cleaned and checked for the last time. It is important that the scissors cut cleanly to the last millimeter of the tip. In the final inspection, this is additionally checked by hand for each pair of scissors.
